Directed by Jacques Feyder
Greta Garbo's last silent, 1929, directed by Jacques Feyder for MGM: a married woman (Garbo) kisses a young man (Lew Ayres) and a husband dies for it, or because of it. Conrad Nagel is the prosecutor who loves her. Feyder, imported from France, shoots Garbo as a face the law cannot quite read. It is a chamber film about a kiss that becomes evidence. Sound was already in the next room. Garbo would speak a year later. Here she still does not have to.
