Nell Shipman, 1923: Faith Diggs sells her hair for her father's medicine, then follows gambler Mark Leroy north on a promise of marriage and a grub-stake. The promise is a trap. She flees into the wilderness with an old prospector and lives among bears until she finds a lost mine and a way out. Shipman wrote, directed, and starred — her last feature, shot with her own zoo in the Idaho woods.
