Directed by John G. Blystone, Buster Keaton
Keaton, 1923, his first true feature as himself: a New York boy rides the train south to claim an inheritance and falls for a girl whose family has been feuding with his since 1810. Directed with John G. Blystone. Natalie Talmadge is the girl. The steamboat, the dog-powered log, the dam. It is a comedy about hospitality as a death sentence, and the first time Keaton built a century as a set. The train is real. So is the fall.
